Privacy Policy

Slope Search is designed to be used without an account. We collect the minimum information needed to provide the service:

Search inputs you enter (location, dates, number of guests, guest ages) — used only to return relevant ski resort results during your session.

Approximate device location, only if you grant permission, to help find resorts near you.

Standard server logs (IP address, browser, referrer, pages visited, timestamps) for security, debugging, and aggregated traffic analytics.

Anonymous analytics events (Google Analytics, Vercel Analytics) that record page views and basic usage. These services may set cookies. We do not collect personally identifying information through them.

Only if you accept cookies: how you use and interact with the site, captured by Microsoft Clarity as behavioral metrics, heatmaps, and session replay. Clarity hides what you type.

When you click an ad: the click itself and, if the advertiser uses the Slope Search pixel, what you did on their site afterwards (see Cookies and Tracking).

How you use search, anonymously, so resorts can see how skiers find them: what you searched for (the place, trip dates, group size and ages), which resorts were shown, which you opened and for how long each was on your screen, and whether you clicked a resort's Buy tickets button. These are tied together only by a random ID that lives in the page's memory for one visit; no cookie is set and nothing is stored on your device. Your approximate location (city, region and country) is read from your connection by our hosting provider; your IP address is not stored with it.

We use the information we collect to operate, maintain, and improve Slope Search — for example, to return search results, debug issues, prevent abuse, and understand which features are useful.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

Slope Search uses a small number of cookies and similar technologies, primarily for analytics and to remember preferences such as your selected map view. You can disable cookies in your browser settings; some functionality may be reduced if you do.

Session recording and ad measurement only run if you agree. On your first visit, a banner asks whether you accept cookies that record how the site is used. Microsoft Clarity (session replay and heatmaps) and the Reddit pixel (which tells us whether our Reddit ads bring visitors) load only after you tap Accept. If you tap Decline, neither loads and the site works exactly the same. Anything you type is hidden from recordings. Your choice is saved in your browser, and you can change it anytime with Cookie settings at the bottom of any page.

If you accept cookies, we partner with Microsoft Clarity and Microsoft Advertising to capture how you use and interact with our website through behavioral metrics, heatmaps, and session replay to improve and market our products and services. Website usage data is captured using first and third-party cookies and other tracking technologies to determine the popularity of products and services and online activity. Additionally, we use this information for site optimization, fraud and security purposes, and advertising. Advertising measurement. When you click an ad on Slope Search, we add a random click ID to the advertiser's link (the "ssclid" parameter). If the advertiser has installed the Slope Search pixel on their website, it keeps that ID in a cookie on their site for up to 30 days and reports back to us, under that ID, what happened after the click: pages visited, sign-ups, items added to a cart, and purchases (with the order's value, currency and order number), along with the address of the page it happened on. We use this only to show advertisers how their ads performed, and not to identify you. If you did not arrive through a Slope Search ad, the pixel does nothing. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, the pixel sends nothing until you agree, through its own prompt or the advertiser's cookie banner.

Resort insights. Resorts on Slope Search can see totals about how skiers find them: how often they were shown and opened, what those skiers searched for, which other resorts they compared, and how many clicked Buy tickets. Resorts only ever see totals, and any figure covering fewer than 5 visits is withheld, so no individual can be identified. When you click a resort's Buy tickets button we add the same kind of click ID to the resort's link, so a resort that uses the Slope Search pixel can see which of those clicks led to a ticket purchase, on the same terms as advertising measurement above.

When you click through to a resort or ticket vendor, you leave Slope Search and are subject to that third party's own privacy practices. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of third-party sites.

We use third-party providers for hosting (Vercel), analytics (Google Analytics, Vercel Analytics, and Microsoft Clarity if you accept cookies), advertising measurement (the Reddit pixel, if you accept cookies), and mapping (Google Maps). Each provider processes data according to its own privacy policy.

Search inputs are not persisted after your session ends unless they appear in standard server logs. Server logs are retained for a limited period (typically 30 days) and then deleted or anonymized.

Slope Search is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us and we will remove it.

Depending on your location, you may have rights regarding your personal information — including the right to access, correct, or delete it. To make a request, contact us at info@slopesearch.com.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of Slope Search after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
